Artist Statement:
Leftovers is a series of signed and numbered ceramic bread sculptures created in response to the rising cost of groceries, global political uncertainty, and the effects of tariffs on everyday goods. Bread: essential, simple, and universally recognized, became a quiet symbol in my hands: of economic strain, of daily perseverance, and of the fragility embedded in our most basic needs.
This work is also about making do. I used only materials I had on hand, leftover clay and glazes from past workshops and art projects, as a personal commitment to sustainability and a broader reflection of how many are adapting and surviving with less. These sculptures honor that mindset. Each slice stands as both an object of comfort and a record of resilience, shaped not just by hand, but by circumstance.
