As I Rise is a documentary and fine-art photography exhibition honoring the lives, labor, and inner worlds of women whose stories are too often overlooked. Rooted in South Dallas and shaped by lived experience, the exhibition captures moments of resilience, vulnerability, and quiet strength — not as spectacle, but as truth.

 

Through intimate portraits and personal narratives, these women are seen not only for what they endure, but for who they are: builders of families, keepers of community, carriers of memory, and architects of their own becoming. Each image is an act of witnessing. Each story is an offering.

 

This work invites viewers to slow down, listen closely, and recognize the beauty of persistence — the sacred work of rising, again and again.
